Remote Work

WHAT IS REMOTE WORK – IS IT THE SAME AS ISOLATION?   (from Blog remoteyear.com)

Note, remote work is not the same as isolation. https://remoteyear.com/blog/what-is-remote-work

This link contains explanations of what remote work is, how it’s done, why it’s done, employee and employer benefits, common misconceptions about remote work.

On this page I will share what I have found helpful with remote work.  Google Accounts is one of many collaborative platforms available for staff not only in business but with non-profit organisations. Its actually easy to set up and negotiate around. You just set up an account – for the ones who need to work on the same document, etc.  Go here: account.google.com

Google Accounts has everything you need – the basics:  docs, sheets, slides, camera, gmail, my business, you tube, maps, photos and so much more

DON’T FORGET HEALTH AND SAFETY  (Just a very basic overview – you will need to investigate things further. But it’s a start)
Protect your employees, learn about some of the key threats to remote workers in high-risk locations.
  1. Isolation. The greatest danger presented by remote, high-risk locations is distance and isolation
  2. Lack of communication
  3. Workplace conditions
  4. Emergency situations
  5. Travel.

Identify and control the risks associated with remote work, as well as assist with putting in place appropriate health and safety measures. This can be achieved by: Reporting any health and safety issues as soon as possible to a Manager, Boss, or Business Owner.

SAMPLE REMOTE WORK POLICY

Here is a sample policy – choose your own words, create your own clauses, etc with other staff.  There are other templates you can follow but I just thought I would put this here.  (It’s an overseas sample – not from New Zealand.
